I've been back in Provo for about a week and a half now and I was pleasantly surprised to feel myself adjust much quicker this time around. I guess anything less than 2 months would have been a huge step up though...hm. New Years in Vegas was way fun and warm. My flights went smoothly compared to the weekend before where I experienced the flight from hell and I did a little bit of illegal gambling and lost $20. I can see how addicting it would be though, because at one point I had at least doubled what I started with, but kept playing until I lost everything and then had to talk myself out of trying again.
It was nice to have the apartment to myself for a couple of days and get ready for school, but I don't think I could ever live by myself. I always thought the ideal situation would be to live alone with your own kitchen and everything, but I would definitely get lonely. So shout out to Elizabeth Cohea- thanks for coming back! (I had a little thank you/welcome home present when she got home...let's just say we're sharing a super-bed for the next 3 months)
I paid my $270 non-refundable down payment to go to China last night so I am definitely going. It freaks me out a little bit, but I am so excited that I am actually going to do it. All I have to do is finish applying for my passport and pay for the rest of it and I'm in. I should know what city I'll be living in within a couple of weeks and then I'll be googling it like crazy.
This semester I'm taking: Spanish 206, Archaeology (long story), Geology 101, World History to 1500, Book of Mormon (second half), and next block I'll start taking a class on Islam. So far so good. The only class I'm a little concerned about right now is my history class because the only section I could get into meets Thursday nights from 6-8:30...so if the teacher is boring, lecture is going to suck, plus that means a lot of outside work. But other than that, it seems managable and if nothing else, as long as I pass everything, I'll only have 3 GE credits left. Which I guess means I'd have to select a major or something.
Let's hope for a successful and fast semester...before you know it, it will be summer break!
